MOLA's mission not only involves management of quality open lands, but it also offers native landscaping educational programming to its members, Mettawa Area residents and the public through work days, yard walks and other educational forums.

In June 2010 MOLA worked in partnership with HSBC North America, Lake Forest Open Lands Association (LFOLA) and Deerpath Farm Conservation Community (DPF)
to rescue high quality native plants from a building pad on a future home lot in the DPF Conservation Housing Development in Mettawa.
